According to veteran club members it was 1972 when the SCCA introduced a new road racing class. They called it, Showroom Stock, and they meant it! The SSC cars were literally “showroom stock,” drivers couldn’t even remove a radio knob. Rules did allow you to go up or down one tire size. In the interest of safety, you needed a “bolt-in roll bar, fire extinguisher, and racing harness. That’s it!
Who recognizes any of these drivers, cars, or tracks? Thank you to New England Region SCCA member Donna Stevens for your tireless efforts going thru and cleaning up the archives. It’s nice to find and reveal treasures like these photos to enjoy years later!
