Re: 11-APR, BITE YOUR TONGUE, SCOTT!!! To all: we run rain or shine but will not run if there's ice on the pavement.

FWIW, we actually put in for a date later than the 11th and we had to swap to get this date. Be very thankful that we got this date... really. Also, be thankful for the other dates that Jaguars of New England, Boston BMWCCA and North Country Porsches swapped to us or we'd have conflicts for the DC Pro Solo AND the FL National Tour weekends. We had to have a date in JUL and the 18th was it. That conflicts with the Toledo Pro Solo, so we're going to need folks to step up to make this event work!!!

For what it's worth, the entrance to Devens that we use probably is not plowed once past the gate.

If there is snow on the ground, we probably cannot get in.

Trust me, we tried it once.

But I have only street tires, so unless you want to tow me around the course...

I would hope your street tires in the winter are snow tires.  I run snow tires for the winter rallyxs, even in M2.  The studded Nokian Hakka5 are pretty much untouchable, usually faster than awd, unless they are running the studded Hakka5 too.

out of curiosity, how much does a set of nokians cost for a 205/50/r17 (I think that is the size for my Mazda). I have looked for snow tires for it in the past, but the size is weird so most shops look it up and either come up with nothing in stock or some brand I don't recognize. (which would potentially included nokkian until this thread). Thus far the result is I just drive slow on my pilot sport a/s's...

It's probably a little late this season, but then again they keep... I noticed that funhondas is a dealer... Smiley

Nokian spends no money on marketing.  They spend more money on RD of snow/ice tires than all the other tire mfg combined.  They have more patents on snow/ice/studding tire technology than all of the other tire mfg combined.  They know snow tires like no one else.  They sell out their production run every year, thus no need to spend money on marketing.
PM to Gus on pricing.

For all you weather challanged autocrossers. Some of us remember when the SOLO season started in March! The opening event was called "March Winds". One year an ice storm did cancel the event but I remember that the Sunday before and the Sunday after were sunny with the temps in the 70's!!!

The SOLO site situation is difficult to say the least. An added complication is that types of sites used in other parts of the country do not seem interested in even listening to us.
