What rally tires is everybody using?  And more importantly where is everybody buying them?

I have been trying to buy some and so far NOTHING without spending $200/tire!!!! Shocked

Hankook - discontinued, and unfortunately nobody has any left!!!!
Falken Azenis - Used them in stage rallies but cant find them anymore
Kumho - really wish they still made these....to me definitely the best cheap rally tire
Silverstones - also discontinued, and only place to order is in the west coast and pricey shipping
Lassa - no R2s available...and apparently rally-tire wont answer their phone
Yokohama - expensive
BF - even more expensive
Pirelli - holy shit...you need a loan to buy a set!!!! Huh?

I am sick of spinning my Altimaxs around the course...and rally tires are needed to keep up with Chang and Harold.....HELP!!!!!

I was thinking 195/65/15, but would be willing to look at some different sizes if that is whats available.

14" wont fit over my brakes, and i will probably rip them apart with 250 whp

Just keep in mind - Rally gravel tires do not work in snow and some will chunk very bad in cold conditions

I really like my Lassa Rally 3's... indescribable difference from the winterforces i had been running.  but yes, rallytire has awful service... i order both tires and wheels from them, tires came in no prob... waited three months for wheels (or someone to answer my email or calls) which never showed before i canceled the order and when to Paul at TIM for some braids.

seriously.  look for take offs from a rally team.  they will ditch tires that are perfectly fine for rallyx.

DMACK ==> http://www.dmacktyresusa.com/

Justin Carven (owner of the grease car - veggie powered VW) is now the US distributor for these tires.   I have personally not used them, but I have heard positive things about them.

And as Kathy said, try talking to some of the local rally teams - you can usually find used tires for cheap that will be fine for rally cross.  In fact, I've got a set of 195/65/15 R700 Kumhos in decent shape (maybe 60% tread left???) that I'll part with for $100 - you'll need to get them dismounted off the Escort rims they are on now and return the rims to me.  Or - you pay for having 4 BFG's moved from destroyed Merkur rims onto the Escort rims for me, and I'll give you the Kumhos for free.  Tongue

Tim-
Thanks for the plug.  Yes, I have taken on the US distribution for DMack Tyres and will have stock here in Holyoke MA in the next month (the containers are on their way).  The goal of this enterprise is to bring over good rally tires at prices that the average grass roots competitor can afford.  We will also be filling the current void of 14" and narrow 15" tires that exists in the market and plan to make discounted used tires available to rallycross competitors as the stage teams swap them for new.

In the meantime I do have a few sets of tires (new and used) available that I would like to clear out before the DMack shipment arrives.

At the top of the list is a set of 4 new medium compound 185/70-15 BFGs I can sell for $175ea ($230 from Libra Racing, $225 from Subesport).

I also have 5 14" soft compound Yokohamas, one is brand new and the other 4 have minimal wear (currently mounted on 14" VW wheels) $600 for all 5 (wheels not included but could be for $25ea).   Also 6 M4 14" BFG/Michelins with some decent life left in them for $400 (SOLD).

And lastly, a crusty set of 205/ 65 R15 Pirelli P Zeros (all 4 for $100)

Anyone who is interested can shoot me an email at info@dmacktyresusa.com  or give a call at 413.534.0013

I'm going to try and head down to Stafford so I may be able to deliver some there.

Def recommend doing business with Justin.  He hooked me up with a brand new set of Michelins for a fair price and I will be ordering Dmacks from him when they are available.

Thanks for all the kind words folks.

I still have the set of brand new 15" BFGs, the used 14" Yokos and 15" Pirellis available for those interested.  Chang and Luke picked up the 15" Michelins and the used 14" BFGs.  I'm planning to head down to Stafford Springs tomorrow so if anyone is interested in tires let me know and I can bring them down. It's darn cold but I don't see any snow and ice out here, it's going to be interesting to see what works best out there.

The full shipment of DMacks will be arriving on Feb 19th and hopefully will be in my shop a few days later.  I will have both soft and medium compounds.
