The entry deadline is approaching! (February 10th)

Anyone here planning to make the event this year? Might even be warm enough to run gravel tires but I would prefer a nor'easter!

Planning on it... gotta get through a pair of R'Crosses first however! Gotta get in touch with my prospective navigator, too.

I had planned to do this one for some time.  it will be the Toyota Pickups second TSD.  However my navigator from covered bridge backed out a few days ago.  I got a new navigator, but I'm not sure if his scheduale will end up working out.  I really hope to figure things out today and enter asap!

Got the okay from my navigator tonight!  Mailing entry form and check tomorrow morning.  I hope it won't get there too late, because the cut off date for entries is apparently the tenth.

Yes, thank you!  Actually I just found his e-mail an hour ago from the Covered Bridge Rally and sent him a typed up entry form.  So already done.. haha.  But thanks for the help!

Looking forward to this again this year. It will be my 6th consecutive running of this epic event. Leaving the studs home this year. Going with unstudded Winterforces.

It's the only night of the year that I really look forward to being awake ALL NIGHT. Can't wait to see all the regulars and some new folks looking for some challenging driving and navigating. You really can't beat this event for sustained entertainment behind the wheel or being along for a great ride in the "Wrong Seat". This event also affords one the rare scenery of a truck stop in northeast VT taken over by pie-eating rallyists @ 2am. And Mike..... I might give the studs a second thought, better to have them and not need them than to need them and not have them. See y'all Saturday.

From what I have seen it looks like the roads will be frozen dirt starting out then a chance of some snow throughout the event (maybe an inch). I have been told there are still the usual frost heaves but not as bad as 3(?) years ago. I ran unstudded Winterforces last year and will be doing it again this year although this year they'll be on a diesel rabbit instead of my rally car.

See you guys up there!

Thanks for the weather and road condition advice guys. You make a good point Scott.

Boy I got lucky tonight. I put a new p/s rack in my car and finished up the 4 wheel alignment. Then while road testing it I noticed the lights going dim and then bright again. I always wondered how far I could go on my 19 year old alternator. Glad I had warning of it before this weekend!

Glad to hear you got 19 years out of that alternator! I had symptoms of depression after parting ways with a 24 y/o starter this past fall. only 114K miles though.

Just an update about the weather event last night. Looks like 3-4 inches of snow at elevations above 3000ft. The slush/rain line was around 1500ft. Temps are currently around freezing and expected above freezing today. Any place that got any appreciable snow, will likely lose most of it. Long story short expect more muddy/slimy conditions, but nothing major in terms of mud. Basically they drop sand/dirt on the roads for traction aids, and as stuff thaws, that turns to a light coating of mud, with the base of the road still frozen. I wouldn't expect rutting like we get in the springs.
Good luck to all.
