RAL RallyX is 5 weeks away. Saturday evening TSD rally after double cross runs @ NHMS. Bring the racecar up on a truck? Rally the truck Saturday evening!

+/- 60 miles of paved and gravel roads around the speedway and then the last legs of the rally on the dark road course. (bright lights help)

It's always a fun weekend, do all 3 events (TSD rally, DoubleX and RallyX) and help support Leukemia research. Lets get some RallyX teams to do the TSD, there's no excuse to not do it. Lets see how the lead foots do averaging speeds over distances. (it's a whole different skill and I know there's a few that can do it well!)

So does anyone have more info on this event in terms of scheduling? What times/days are the doublecross runs going to take place. I only ask because I have a friends wedding on the 4th and I want to let him know I can't make it if there's gonna be racing :-P

Schedule would be useful.

Does anyone know if the DoubleCross is going to be run independently of the RallyCross on Sunday?  I may not be able to make the Saturday festivities.

The 2 rallyx runs for the doublecross generally take place before the rallyx actually starts, so pretty early on Sunday.  Once that happens, the rallyx will run like a normal day.

I think the autox runs happen toward the end of their day, so around like 3-4ish I would guess, but dont quote me on that part.  Although I dont know how that will go now with the TSD being on Sat evening.

I think the DoubleX will be run about the same as last year. The First car off in the TSD rally will be 5:31 pm Saturday. The DoubleX last year was arrive about 2pm Saturday to get teched and then tarmac runs took about 20 minutes and were done about 4pm. The gravel runs also took 20 minutes first thing Sunday am before the RallyX.

I'm sure there will be a more accurate schedule as the event approaches. (there's still 4.5 weeks to go) We need to get more folks out for all these events it makes a great busy weekend of motorsports. If you haven't tried a TSD this is a good chance to get your feet wet because it's only a couple/few hours and the roads will be fun. If you're going to be there for the DoubleX anyway, try the TSD it's a good time and all proceeds go to UMASS Leukemia research, lets raise some $ rally people.

That type of setup would work wonderfully.  If work relents, I could do the DoubleX, TSD, and RallyCross.  If not, Sunday will still be on the menu.

Being new to the DoubleX, is there a Solo class similar to SA?  If I could get away with a wheel swap, that would be fantastic.

That's what I did last year with my old Sentra, ran all three! Intending to do so this year as well.

Unless we are changing the DoubleX scoring, we actually won't be running Solo car classes for the paved DoubleX runs (I believe your SX4 would be H-Stock), instead we run a "1.0" class and a "2.0" class. One class is for people running the same car for the Solo and RallyCross portions (changing tires of course), where the other is for multiple people sharing one Solo-prepared car for the paved portion, and a RallyCross car for the dirt runs.

I plan on doing the AutoX and RallyX.  Might be bringing a friend from NJ with an S2K for doublecross.

How exactly does the doublecross work?

What about people single running their own solo car, and their own rallyX car? There won't be different classes for people running solo cars? So AWD solo cars are same class as 2WD cars and a Corvette would be the same class as a Civic if they are both solo prepped cars? I am not criticizing, I can just see there being some disparity for the cars running on tarmac. Also, looks like I may have to do the AutoX portion in a suit because I'll have to get to Rye by 1700 for my buddy's wedding, and he said an SFI suit doesn't count!

I would have to ask someone else about that.

Last year, however, my old Sentra was lumped with much faster cars in whichever one was the "Use the same car yourself" class, and didn't really stand a chance - it's just for fun anyway so nothing to be taken too seriously.

Dan - The DoubleCross consists of cumulative time of two autocross runs at NHMS on Saturday of RAL, and then two RallyCross runs the following morning before the regularly scheduled RallyCross event. As far as classes are concerned this year, I'll wait for official info because it could be different than last year.

Our events, the DoubleX, TSD Rally and RallyCross are set up so you can do all three. DoubleX Saturday afternoon, TSD Rally (set up to be great for beginners to TSD) Saturday evening, finish of DoubleX and start of RallyCross event Sunday morning. Give Road Rally a try, have your friend who shares your car at RallyCross events be your navigator!

Don't forget that you can run the Saturday autocross as well (in addition to the DoubleX)

DISCLAIMER: unless the rules have changed, this is how I understand it:

If you run the 2.0 class, your time is PAXed (autocross classing on Saturday, and there is a slight PAX for gravel tires on Sunday). I dont think there is anything against running the same car in both parts for the 2.0 class.
1.0 has no PAX, its just straight up time, and any changes you can make overnight are legal.

There won't be different classes for people running solo cars? So AWD solo cars are same class as 2WD cars and a Corvette would be the same class as a Civic if they are both solo prepped cars?
Not necessarily a problem...I won the DoubleCross overall two years ago in a mostly stock (besides lightening) 97 Neon.
