Thinking of a switch, anyone have a good F125 site?

I know ZERO about karting, but I know I enjoy it. I would love to grab a shifter kart, but since NER cant host them at Devens, it wouldn't be a good fit for me.
So, figure I'd take a look at F125 non shifter. Does anyone know a good website? I am trying to determine costs to get a competive kart up and running, seasonal mainteneance costs and most importantly, whats good, whats not. Also, is there a national class for F125 non shifters? I seem to only recall the shifter guys at the big events.
any info is apreciated

Try Mike Camarra at CFMotorsports 508-588-2355. He will be at the Oct. event.
F125 in SCCA covers all adult karts, 125cc Shifters, 125cc non shifters, 100cc karts.
A 125 non shifter will cost around $3,000 used to $5000 new. A 100cc will cost around $2000 to $3000 used.
It will cost around $500 to a $1000 in fuel, parts, tires to run the kart for the year.

Haha it's probably a good thing Devens doesn't do shifter karts.....there would be a line of karts a mile long, and no more cars!
I'm still thinking about karts after next season...

This is because I can spell "konfusion" with a "k" and I can like it.

I have a very competitive 100cc kart for sale. CRG frame with a TKM engine (setup by Paul Bowin).
$1500

so what is legal locally is not competitive nationally
shifter vs non shifter, how can they share a pax?
unless I switch regions or we run every event at NHMS perhaps its not the class for me, I would like whatever I run to be nationally competitive and unless im missing something, having no gears seems to be a big a disadvantage.

There is no non-shifter National Class. All the adult karts get lumped into F125.

You want something fast? Nationally competitive? Open wheel? Sounds like a lawn mower?
Buy Jeff Martone's F500.
Seriously.

too steep a buy in for me, i considered it, but paying half that for a new kart seems so much more of a fit for what I want to do. smaller trailer, smaller tires, smaller budget, smaller annoyance level to other competitors
honestly, the only problem is devens
my main goals in considering a switch are low(er) maintenance costs, easy to get to events and that it be nationally competitive
My mazda fits the bill with the exception of it having low maintenance costs, I didnt think it out as well as I could have 2+ years ago when I got the car, but then again, nobody knew that it would eat front tires like it was its job back then. I figure my tire budget for next year could be close to 3-4k again, so if I could get into something that would keep my interest for no more than 2x that cost, Id consider it.

If you want to run Nationals you will need a shifter.
If you want to run local, go fast, have a ton of fun for less cost buy a non shifter and race with us.
Anyone that has used my kart this year will tell you that it is not as easy to drive a kart as it looks.
But they are a lot of fun.

Mike had some brief thoughts about running DSPL at nationals this year. I saw the pics, and they weren't pretty

I spoke with the SEB at the national Convention in and they mentioned that adding a 100cc class to Nationals is not out of the question, but regions must create a F100 class and show support for that class. Originally I thought NER was going to add the new class F100 and leave F125 alone. But it appears like they opted to change F125 to "K" class and mix 100 and 125's together. I'm hoping they adjust this for the 2009 season.
