My 510s radiator got destroyed in DC and I need to get a new one. Since they are no longer produced and I dont want to use a used 30 yr old part, I was thinking of getting a custom one made to the size of the original. Anyone know a place that will make a customer radiator and about how much the cost? Thanks.

check out wizard racing.... oh wait, FSP probably requires that you have a stock radiator.

in that case, pretty much any radiator shop can re-core what you have. If the tanks or frame are bent, they can be straightened (within reason). For the most part, old radiators have copper tanks, so bending and fixing holes is easy as you either solder or braze. Nothing fancy there. But a good radiator shop can do wonders, and in your case, talk to one that does restoration work.

I believe the the "no longer produced models" rule allows you some flexibility in how you replace the radiator, but if I was looking to run at the national level in SP, I'd shy away from the fancy aluminum radiators like wizard for obvious reasons.

15.10.L. Engine cooling radiators may be replaced with alternate parts
subject to the following restrictions:
    1. Radiator core dimensions (width, height, thickness) must be no smaller than the standard part.
    2. Radiator must mount to OE radiator mounts.
    3. Fluid capacity and dry weight of the radiator must be no less than that of the standard part. Installation of an alternate radiator may serve no other purpose (e.g. to allow a cold air intake passage).
15.10.M. The engine fan and fan shroud (unless it serves another purpose, e.g., as an alternator/generator mount) may be removed, modified or replaced. Electrically driven fans are allowed. Flex fans are not allowed.

Radiators can be upgraded in SP now.

Yea I was thinking of just getting a stock sized replacement made from AL. The stock one is copper but the core is now shot.

The good news is that copper is worth some money on the scrap market so you will can get something for the old one.

Don't forget the dry weight has to match the original one.  I don't know that anyone would be so pedantic, but you'll have to add something to make an aluminum one weight what the copper one does.

Griffin aluminum radiators are availlable through Summit racing and have multiple dimensions and outlets - I have one in the Focus.  I know it isn't cheap to have a stock replacement made ... in my Mazda GTX it was a major hassel and cost.

Yea a custom one was way more than I wanted to spend. Ended up getting a Fiero aluminum one for the dime. Just have to make some sp legal mounts for it now.
