Ok, it has become somewhat of a tradition to run chicane/chicane one day at both the July and September events.
I need to hear from you as to wether you would rather it be on Saturday or Sunday and why?
If we run it on Saturday should Friday open practice be chicane/chicane?
We,NER are the only club to run NASCAR 1&2, I don't run with other clubs so I never get a chance to practice chicane/chicane and would rather have the Friday practice.
WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Jerry,
I don't know why the region continues to run this configuration.  In my experience it turns the track into a "go-cart" experience and creates a follow the leader effect to some degree.  I also think the transitions are very abusive to the race car.  My vote would be not to use the South Chicane.

Please no chic/chic. For other clubs without the passing, this may be a fine course. However, with full open passing we have seen more destroyed cars then any group coming out of two.

I prefer 1&2. If you want to run chic/chic, go com.

We will be running it in July, Saturday or Sunday is the question?
If you don't want to run it let the Board know, we hear from many who are in favor of it.
It will probably be a non issue in a year or so anyway!
You did hear about the possible road course out back at NHMS?? Shocked

I don't which day we run the South chicane. It's normally been on Sunday. Why not have it on Sunday for the July race, and Saturday in Sept? Switch it up?

I did hear a little whisper about a possible road course out back of NHMS. The way I treat rumors: wait until they become fact, wait 2 months, then belive them. Until then they don't matter. That's the way I treat them in work.

No South chicane!  It turns it into a go-cart track.

Hey there is a bit of truth about more on track incidents with the south chicane, so Sunday is a better day to run it, those that don't want to play can go home and mow thier lawn (and when they are done go do Blossom's!!). And if they decide to run on Sunday the chance of getting two days of racing and balling up the car is still good.

At first when events starting using the south chicane I thought it was great.  That was until I spent a couple Sundays getting hard blocked by cars I was clearly overtaking.  I have found that to pass you must put your car at risk or accept the fact you are going to just drive around.  Being a NCF (open wheel) and classed with the wings and things the D and C SR's have a power advantage and for the most part a cornering dis-advantage, that coupled with a big box with little mirrors they are hell to drive with.  With the south chicane being used I would prefer them to be in with the other boxy spec raders (SRF) at least there they are equally matched with bully fenders for all. I prefer sunday for the south chicane for the reasons already mentioned, crash damage potential, at least I can run Sat.

I thought the idea of the south chicane took the essence of NHMS away when i first heard of the idea, and I thought it would remove passing zones. Sadly I was right. It sucks.
Hate it, hard on the cars, mickey mouse, removes a great element of the track, (the banking) which requires a slightly different skill set and rewards the better driver. Just dumb.

Which day? neither. But if I have to pick one, I guess Sunday for the carnage reasons stated. Plus, if the car breaks  or has an issue halfway through the weekend, at least I get to run on the better configuration.   But since we didn't run it on Memorial Day (I loved that), and we are in July, I think I'll just go to the Glen instead.

Actually, I thought the RR BOD decided not to run the south chicane after last year. Guess I was wrong or they forgot.

Since I am never wrong... Wink

See you this weekend.

And to prove all of us wrong, I beleive that there were just spin and go's at Two, and that the Big One was at the blind spot from 9 to 10 for all, but 10.

Another BMW was sacrificed to the Pig Roast gods, as they should.

Now how do you all feel about the South Chicane?
