Thanks. I'm confused though -
The helmet rule says this:
All helmets meeting the latest or two immediately preceding Snell Foundation standards (SA2010, SAH2010, SA2005, SA2000, M2010, M2005, M2000, K2010, K2005, K98), SFI standards 31.1, 41.1, 31.1A, 31.2A, 41.1A, 41.2A or British spec BS6658-85 type A/FR are acceptable.
I thought if it was 10 years old it was no good and we had to buy new helmets this year if we had SA or M 2000. Is autocross more relaxed on the helmet rule than other motorsports?
Now I am not sure if I need a new helmet or not.

Some organizations require helmet replacement based on age but SCCA only goes by the Snell and SFI ratings. |

Wow, the SA/M2000 helmets are still legal for another year? Damn ST and the pulled aero rule. Now I Jenna can't run the Type-X JDM bumpers so people think it's an FC RX-7  |

PJ, it's the M/SA95's that went out this year. Current and previous 2 Snell standards are legal. 2010 is current. 2005 and 2000 are the previous 2.

Electric cars explicitly allowed in SM and SSM for 2011. As long as they keep the wheels under 275, stock weight Tesla's qualify... Not sure they'd be competitive in stock form. Most reports are that they are too heavy, and loose most of the elise's cornering advantage. But of course their low end torque is fabulous, and they would just drive it all in 1st gear (they only have 2), so that buys' you a shift's worth of time too. They might rule shorter courses that have big slow downs, and who knows what can be achieved with SM's essentially unlimited suspension improvements. It hurts my brain to think about trying to read the SM engine rrules in terms of electric motors.  So who makes the electric motor in the tesla? GE?  Does that mean any GE (or whomever) electric motor would qualify? That could be a WIDE range of options. I suppose the power drain on the battery and battery heating might limit things. |

soloperformance had a nice clearance on helmets not that long ago, dont know if they still have any left at the prices they were blowing them out.
