For kicks i want to bring my Lemons car to a solo event. I'm trying to work out what classification it would be (forgive me, i'm still a bit new to all of this). It is a 1989 Dodge Daytona with the Turbo II engine. Almost everything drive train wise is stock. Only changes are ac removal. Suspension is unmodified, though i can't confirm if shocks are stock brand, they are stock fitment. Wheels, brakes, all stock.
the big changes are the stripped interior, welded in cage, race seat, harness, stuff like that. From my pouring over the rule book it would appear that street prepared is where it would fall, is that correct?
I'm not looking to win (hell, i expect this car to be slow), i just want to know what the car will do, and give it a shake down before the next lemons race. Plus who doesn't want to see a themed daytona with no weight at all over the back end and very soft suspension wallow through some cones. Thanks for the help.

I'm sure someone who knows more will chime in but the gutted interior is no good for Street Prepared classes. I think that is at least Street Mod but may even be Prepared...

bah, silly me. Since my rear seats are out, and airbag is gone (that's a lemons requirement) i can't fall into street prepared, so it's looking like street modified or some prepared class. Just need to figure out the exact one.

Worst case scenario, you could run it in EM (or DM, can't remember the engine size cut-off for DM)
Also, make sure you can make our Sound policy.

Thanks, i'll keep reading and figure out which is the correct one. Like i said, i don't expect to really be competitive in whatever class i am, just want to the classed correctly. I'm not worried too much about sound. Lemons has sound requirements that i don't think are much off ours. At worst i'll need a turn down. But either way i'll make sure i'm inside the rules.

SM maintains you need the interior and all that good stuff (but can remove the rear seat).

If you can fit into a Showroom stock club racing class you might be able to run stock. I haven't read that section of the rules in a while, but I believe cars eligible for showroom stock can run as stock in solo. You'll have to check the GCR, but that might get around the gutted interior and removed airbag.

Chris -
The LeMons Daytona is F Prepared, and I am pretty confident it'll make sound. It doesn't hurt to have a turndown to clamp on as an insurance policy though.

Well look at you all confident in your answer now. I ask you the other day and you're unsure, now you're an expert. also, figures it's a class that someone is active in. No way in hell the Daytona stands a chance against the Tr6. edit: in retrospect, this statement came out a lot more a-hole-ish than i wanted it to. I was trying to lightly poke fun at Bryan. Also i just thought it was funny that i'd be paired against the TR6 since that car is so beastly, and the daytona is so, well, the opposite of that.

It's nowhere close to being a showroom stock car, but IT cars can run in the appropriate SP class, as long as it's a fully legal IT car, and not incorporating solo SP category modifications or allowances.

The Daytona was not prepared to any set of rules. It was "prepared" to run and pass the LeMons safety inspection.
I am pretty confident it meets the requirements of FP and it'll never run anywhere someone would feel compelled to protest it's classing (if i missed something).

I suspect FP will be close enough.

This is correct. There was nothing done to it to change performance. The only things changed were in the name of safety for Lemons. The engine is about to get torn down, but that is just to rebuild it and stop oil leaks. Nothing will get aftermarket parts, just stock replacements. Even the Turbo is going back to stock (previous owner thought an ebay special Chinese turbo was a wise idea..........) Thanks everyone. I'll go with FP and enjoy driving my slow car.

sounds like FP or XP would be where it fits due to the gutted interior.
