Didn't lose it, gave it up! Can't run events without volunteers! We've asked and pleaded, it falls on deaf ears! Every single member is responsible. Next Road Race meeting is Friday, 11/18 2011

We've asked and pleaded, it falls on deaf ears!
The only time I have ever heard about this being a problem is after climbing out a race car at impound while sweaty and I think most of us are deaf at that point. Don't think holding drivers after the afternoon race on Sunday really makes anyone listen I think they just want to get packed up. Where can we find a list of stuff people can vonlenteer for? I would love to go to a meeting but unfortunatly I have 2 jobs and not a lot of free time. Is there anyway to get the word out to people other than at impound? Most drivers forget about it and don't think to ask new people to come to the track and get involved. We could make up a online flyer that anyone could print out and hand out or put in some key locations Car shows, performance car shops or anywhere. I would like to do something I just don't know how or what and I can't be the only one that does not know or have this information. Thank you to everyone that makes these events happen. Mark

I see that the NARRC Runoffs are happening a week or so earlier than usual in 2012. From the LRP site:
September 21-22, 2012, North Atlantic Road Racing Championship (NARRC) Run-offs The best, brightest and fastest SCCA racers from New England put on a tremendous show, with races from dawn to dusk as they settle bragging rights in a multitude of classes. From incredibly agile formula cars and the nimble sports sedans to the big-bruiser GT-1s, race day during the NARRCs is a fun, family friendly event that will please both hard-core and casual race fans. You might even be impressed enough to have your family join the SCCA membership rolls!

So, your point is??
The same one that you're trying to make. I think you should have reduced the NERRC schedule to 2 NHMS races since nobody seems to be able to lift a finger to assist. LTD-R does what we can to help out but we're in the minority. I think that each race group needs to be assigned something (water distribution, T&S setup/takedown, registration, Sat dinner setup/cleanup, drivers school, tech) for one weekend per season to help out the region or we lose weekends. This is a club run and supported by volunteers but the support seems to be seriously lacking from the drivers. What has your driver ever done to help the region besides pay a whole bunch of entry fees every weekend? On the other hand, we (drivers) hear time and again that help is needed. However when help is offered, we're told that "we've got it covered." I can give examples to you offline but it has happened over and over. FWIW, I thoroughly enjoy reading each issue of Pit Talk and commend the authors and photographers for their time and effort to bring us this monthly media. Many of us have covers and (autographed) pages stuck on our walls and trailers.

How about becoming a Steward, tech inspector, starter, flagger or pit worker? Come to CRB meetings and learn how it all works, that's getting involved.
"What has your driver ever done to help the region besides pay a whole bunch of entry fees every weekend?" My only driver is ME and I won't bore you with how little I do!

The only thing I haven't seen you do, is open a beer for me... I have seen you do everything else that is possible during one race weekend or another... And we all thank you for the effort you put in, late at night and early in the morning... With only 5 weekends, how is the average worker, going to keep their licensure of 6 events for Divisional, and 8 for National? Or are some of these doubles and triples having different sanctions, so it "appears" to be more racing. Which will mean to having two or three chiefs of specialty for one weekend? Just wondering,

As soon as the Supps get posted on ner.org then online registration on MSReg will open for the August event. I'll post on the forum when it opens.
