OK, there is a BIG push, by some members of, the NRC (National Racing Committee) to build a new Divisional championship. :Smiley
So, the question is do we need to???
Given the current state of National racing, is there interest?
Do the majority of National racers want a championship or do you just attend good events?
Will a divisional championship heighten your interest in National races and would you consider attend additional National Races.
Please, I need your feedback Wink
Jerry, NRC member
Do you know what a Bonus National is? Are you attending a National because it's a Bonus National?
Are you disappointed in the fact that the Glen National in 2012 is not a double?

Well having the only double national, that us racers want, at a track that is geographiclly not even in our division, well, who's the genious that came up with that. The Glen double is always a well attended event. So naturally the scwablers screwed that up and made it a single. When I complained about the schedule being self serving to the regions and not the racers, I was told by an NRC member, to the effect, the regions holding the events and the workers are more important than the racers. And they wonder why car counts continue to dwindle.  :Smiley
As to the importance of there being a divisional championship, is there prize money involved. We all know who has the most points in division. You can tell as they finished in front of you. As to the bonus national, yes. I would have gone to the one held last year for the prod cars, but it was held at that same out of division track. Not worth a 13 hr tow. Thanks for all your hard work Jerry.

Obviously I'm not a racer, just my two cents'...
When I first starting learning about this and that championship as I was getting into SCCA racing, I kind of considered the NARRC to be a "divisional championship" as it was contained within our division but held at tracks and by members of different regions, i.e. a step up from racing at just two tracks. Obviously doesn't attract much, if anything, from those regions further west or south than NY/NJ, but then there's MARRS and the like. Besides, there are already a divisional points system and division standings from National races, aren't there?

Pick the NER Light theme

But the blue looks crappy on the light grey too, so yeah, enough of the blue crap.  :-)

So, why do I have to pick a light theme? The whole thing should be light, as most people would prefer and let the dark background lovers make the change.
The next thing will be" if you want to view the site and use Internet Explorer, pick here"......

Because there are also people that like the dark theme and have said so.  Neil took his time to get the light theme set up.  Be happy.  Take the minute to make three clicks and change it.

I can arrange that.   Grin

Back to the original questions...

Another championship will have no impact to how much or where I race.  For me the NEDIV points deal is enough and it's more about the tracks and good events.

The bonus nationals seem like a good idea but again it hasn't impacted where or when I race.

And finally, I'm disappointed the Glen National is not a double. We get a good turn out and it's a fun place to run. That said, I'm glad that Lime Rock is back on the schedule this year. Unfortunately not all that well attended but again a fun track to run.

Jerry, thanks for all the time and effort you put in.

I think it depends on what a new Divisional Championship looks like - are you talking something additional to the overall points leader, or take the current points method away and do something different?

As for bonus nationals, yes that would make me want to go - as long as it is close enough (read not at Nelsons).  Agree, the double should have stayed at the Glen, and agree with other posters that having the only double in the division, at a track out of the division (NL) doesn't make sense to me.

In some classes, I think Nationals make a difference, and that you get better competition.

Jerry, I also don't think the NER forums will give you enough feedback, as I don't think many drivers/people frequently visit these forums.  I think a better way to get your feedback will be by email (use the motorsportreg.com registration emails?).

Steve brings up a good point about getting much of an opinion from the forum.  Maybe we should mention in the next Pit Talk that the forum is here.  It couldn't hurt to remind people or let them know it exists.  Especially with some of the new changes Neil has made.

In regard to the question.  I found the whole regional/national/divisional championship thing etremely confusing when I first started in SCCA.  And trying to explain it to someone that doesn't race....good luck.  If the "big push" is for streamlining of the existing system, then I am all for it.  If it is for adding more confusion or more championships, I'll say no.  In my opinion, trophies and winning is great, but I just want some good spirited, wheel to wheel racing.

Not interested in National competition. I have participated in a few and found 2 quailifiers just a waste of good racing time. Traveling from Western Maine I have to look at travel costs and amount of track time associated with entry fees. I look for a good priced practice day, followed by a race schedule I can double dip in. I'm actually at the piont with low turn out in SM that I'd rather see a lottery start so we can have 4 races in a weekend !
