Was Charlie trying to hit every single cone he went past? Smiley

Dave White had a pretty good event last year where he was trying to make road-kill of every cone he could possibly get near.

When I let Kevin Camire drive my Z06 at a final Miata club event of a year a few years ago, I told him he would probably hit a bunch of cones on the right, because the car is 7" wider on the right than his turbo Miata. He managed to take out about 25 or so cones in his first run, including losing grip on the steering wheel at the finish and doing a tank-slapper all the way down the right hand wall of cones, and managed to break his thumb trying to re-catch the wheel. Everyone was laughing at his misfortune. Smiley First event of the next year he showed up with a... black Z06, instead of his miata.

I noticed that there are 5 runs listed per entry. Do you know why the 6th isn't listed?

Thanks!

Because we only did 5 runs. Smiley

There was time for only 5 runs that day.

There were a lot of re-runs (I think I had the most!) and in that case the time (or lack there of) of the run that had to be re-done is replaced by the new time.

Speaking of cone calls...

I want to know who actually counted all of Charlie's 19 cones!!!  Are you sure you didn't miss one?  Isn't that some sort of record?  Trophy?

-John

Actually my first run on the day was clean.  Not sure where that number came from.  The times are bang on though so no worries...

I did have a rather stunning moment of brain fade on the afternoon run though, where I went into the slightly tight clamshell on the back straight in 3rd, thinking I was two gates further down the course than was the case.

Or was I in such a fog that I committed cone carnage and suppressed the memories?

Cheers,

Charlie

I talked to someone (I'm terrible with names and forgot exactly who) at the end of the event about a wrongful DNF on my last run, does anyone know who I should email to check on the progress of it?  It says that my last run was a DNF, but I have video of the run and I did the course perfectly.

There were several novice drivers that took 6, 7, or even 8 timed runs (on top of reruns). I don't understand why people took so many extra ones, but the procedure is that only your first 5 timed runs count.

If there are any issues with timing and scoring, you should email me. jenna dot corrales at gmail dot com.

The event after Dave won Nationals, he hit 35 Smiley

You can't rationalize cars like these. They're not something you buy with your head - you buy them with your heart, because you love them. And who can explain love?

Us novices need the extra practice. Grin
