Attached are the provisional heat assignments and work assignments for the NER SCCA May 6 event.

We will be running a three-heat system, and novices run with their base class.

The assignments follow this sequence: RUN, WORK, OFF.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Kathy Barnes at kjbarnes22 at gmail dot com.

um, pretty hard for me to work while I am trying to start Kimsoo's kart.  Can that be changed?  It worked well when I ran in the same heat as she ran.

Chang - sorry - I missed that.  The class will run where it is listed.  I will make a change to your assignment and to Dan Kimber's assignment also.

Also changes for a few other people which will be available at 8AM tomorrow.  I missed some of the requests for "no running" assignments.

Quick question about the RUN - WORK - OFF order; Isn't that going to slow down the changeover if we have to wait for the cars running to finish their runs and park before getting to their work stations?

Did we hit a near record for runs yesterday?

At the end of the third heat I was the starter, and before shutting down the radio net I made a point of thanking the workers for handling a very busy heat with a high cone count.

I'd also like to lead a cheer for the volunteers in timing and scoring, who kept us on track throughout the day.  You folks ROCK!

My thanks for a great day of racing, and my undying respect for grace under pressure!

Kind regards,

Charlie

156 competitors, 6 runs = 936 timed runs. Thanks to all that made it happen. Let's all remember this for the next event!! Reporting for your work assignments on time makes for a very productive day, thanks to everyone again for an awesome day. NER RULES!!!!!!!

I don't know how many people will show for the tour (I see 100 or so now, so maybe 150-200 total by June?), or how much overhead the tour rules/regs (weighing cars etc) add, or to what extent we will be running things, but these numbers make it sound like there's at least a chance that we could provide more than 3 runs for the tour days. I wouldn't be surprised if nationals is only going to count the first 3, but if there's less than 200 competitors, will it be possible to have an additional run or two that counts for NER?

If it's over 200, then probably this is a moot point...

I'm pretty confident in saying that there won't be more than 3 runs/day at the tour. Tours generally run pretty quickly, but the course needs to be changed over for Sunday morning after Sat runs are finished and people need to travel home sunday night so the schedule is intentionally early.

Tour is typically three runs.  Reasons are:

1.  Simulating Nationals (which is three runs)
2.  Usually large amount of competitors (200+ is a good bet)
3.  Need time at the end of Saturday to set up Sunday course and allow for course walks.
4.  People that travel would prefer not to be leaving the site at 7PM on Sunday

We had 148 with timed runs.  We all had the opportunity for 6  runs.  The number of reruns for down cones was greatly reduced from the first event.  Great course working.  I saw people RUN for cones and RUN back to their position.  You cannot emphasize how much that helps an event.

Grid ran really well - we trained 4 new people who will be a great help going through the season.

Next area to work on:  Corner Bosses - we have a good group but I want to have one person per class who can be a Corner Boss.  We had a couple new people take on that role Sunday and they did well.

This event was one month after our first event and about two seasons better.  16 fewer drivers does not make that difference.  Attitude and effort makes that difference.
