Regarding the Moss (which looks like it is not part of the 9 event season points). I don't see any written rules on the web site that would disqualify the following, and I'd like to verify that these choices are permissible:

Can class winners run in any class using any car?

Can 2 class winners co-drive any car?

I'd even have to ask - can all 3 road tire class winners drive the same car?

Road tire classes have a PAX that is not competitive, so with a PAX based set of rules to win the Moss, and with no modifier for the Road Tire classes, this seems like one way the Road Tire class winners can compete, i.e., not run in class. I  think I've heard people object to the idea of driving "a better car" at the Moss so I thought I'd get this out in the open now since the Road Tire modifier discussion is out and the the Moss is where it really matters.

thanks

-Barbara

Considering that Brian ran in the 27 different cars last year and then ran the moss in Grants car I would say all of that is legit besides triple driving the car.

As a competitor, I certainly would not object to it.  I think you guys deserve a fair shot at winning the Moss, and you'll need a car with a proper pax to have a chance.  I am not sure on the rule for triple driving a car though.

Triple driving in the Moss is not allowed, and triple driving in that heat has been heavily frowned upon.

Because Moss participants are put in their own class for that event, it's not likely there would be 3 drivers in one heat.

I ran in the PRO class and qualified for the moss by my pax finishes, if someone can run 7 different cars and still finish in the top ten in pax I say go for it  Grin

I think I remember this being discussed at the monthly meeting when these classes were formed.  I think I remember the official ruling being that RT* Moss drivers can run any car they want, or they can even change to R-comps for the Moss.

I don't think we knew the Moss event would not be a points event at that time. So, if you had to win the class at the Moss, you'd have needed to run in RT for the class win, and then not be competitive PAX wise in the Moss. We got lucky having RT form the same year the Moss is non points.

I could be wrong about changing cars, but I specifically remember Bob saying that Road Tire drivers can switch to R-comps just for their moss runs if they choose to.

There is nothing in the supps that says you have to run the car or class that you ran in all year.  My intent, if I win HS this year is to have new tires (or at least ones with only one event on them) for the Moss.  How is going from 6 year old Hoosiers to new ones any different than changing cars or classes?

As Paul says, there is no rule against changing cars for the Moss. And as Brian said, if you can jump in something new and beat national-level drivers who have been competing in and refining their cars all season you deserve to win the Moss.

but if you do run in another car, be prepared to get some crap from the other competitors. Not that I have any experience to that regard.

Volvo 240 wagon, preped to SM. You get a super sleeper and an easy pax. Hard parts will be making rear downforce within the rules on a wagon, and getting down to minimum weight, oh and lots of parts overnighted from sweeden.

Not that I have any dog in this fight...but while it's perfectly within rules, a certain former solo chair said it was unsportsmanlike and not in the spirit of the competition to switch cars/classes specifically for the Moss, when it was brought up a few years ago.

STF has the best Pax, though....

+1

May the best man win. Smiley  If you can find a ride capable of winning, please do hop in and have a go!  This is versus staying in an RT class, which you have no chance of winning the Moss in.  If I am warrior going in to battle, the challenge (and fun) is battling another equally equipped warrior; win or lose.  I would rather lose against a warrior than win against a cripple.
