Headin' west with Big Lap 16 Rally, 2011's Rally of the Year .  The rally will start and end in Keene.  Along the 130 mile route, you'll travel scenic and historic western NH back roads.  Lunch break will be in Claremont, NH.  The majority of the rally roads haven't been used by my rallies before.  As usual, unpaved roads are used pretty much whenever possible, totaling probably about 40%.

Registration and start are a little unconventional.  None of the local motels other than Days Inn offered a rate that was reasonable, in my eyes, to host the rally.  The Days Inn rate for the rally is $89, but they don't have an area ample to house the registration.  So, registration will be a fresh air event, being held in the Applebee's parking lot on Key Road in Keene.  Key Road is off Winchester St.  Turn at the McDonalds and follow the road a very short distance to Applebee's on the left.

Lodging:  Days Inn, Ash Brook Rd, Keene.   603-352-9780       $89 per room when you mention "Big Lap Rally".

Bummed I can't make this one.  Even more bummed that I'll be in the area.  So if anyone sees a big yellow Sprinter cruising around with a trailer, wave.  That'll be me.

Good luck.

I hope the rally route survived the crazy rain this week!  To anyone who hasn't done this rally before... it is always an awesome event. The southwestern half of the state has THE BEST gravel roads in NH by far, which will make Big Lap even better. Sorry to hear you can't make it Nate but have fun driving the twinkie.

BL XVI was a fun drive. I knew the roads would be fun and Scott B. did a great job finding them. I find it hard to believe that only 15 cars will show up for a great rally in a central New England location. Thanks to all who helped out with working and making the rally happen. Hope to see all 15 teams and then some @ Mass Challenge 2 in July.

Those were some great roads! I don't get out to that part of the state very often.

See you all at Mass Challenge!

Can't you guys at least lie and say that for once in his life Scott put on a horrible rally so I don't feel so bad about missing it?  I'd appreciate it.  Hope you guys didn't run into too many cyclist.  I never saw any of you while rallying the Sprinter and trailer from pit to pit on my way to Harpoon.

And in keeping with my theme of this year, won't see anyone at Mass Challenge either.  At least this time I won't be having my nosed rubbed in it by being in the same neck of the woods - I'll be in Iowa.  One of these days we'll make it back out to a rally.  Maybe Hurdle?  We'll be gone for Big Lap as well......

Glad everyone had a good rally.  Sorry there weren't more cars (and that we weren't one of them).
