Hi,

I just drove in my first auto-x on July 8 at Devens. I was wondering about the test and tune event and how its conducted. Is it a full-day commitment like the autox or can I come in during the day, drive and help clean up the course at the end of the day and be done?

I have nothing to tune (stock car) except maybe tire pressures. I would like to drive more but I am not sure I can stay there the whole day.

Thanks,
Bodi

Bodie,

Glad you enjoyed your first event. Hope you will become a regular.

As for the test and tune, this is one of two events this year that has participation restrictions.

The first was in June -- it was a novice school with participation limited to true novices. The instructor staff for that school was made up of over twenty of our most experienced, accomplished drivers, many of whom will be attending the SCCA national solo championships in early September.

The test and tune is intended as an opportunity for those instructors and other experienced drivers from the region to test and tune their vehicles, and is limited to experienced autocrossers only. Keep running with us -- I'm confident that next year you'll advance to the point where you can attend the event.

Thanks,
Bob

Aah - good luck to the drivers going to the national championships then!
I wish there were more frequent auto-x events. The next one seems to be in August 4 - but I'll end up missing that. I am guessing the one after that will be another month from then.

If you're looking for seat time, one club or another has Devens every weekend day from the beginning of April to the end of October.

Some clubs require memberships or have special registration requirements.  But there are plenty of viable alternatives to sitting around.  I highly recommend Renegade Miata (www.renegademiata.net) as a good option for more seat time.

Personally I would not want to tons of cross posting of events on different websites, but it would be really cool if someone put together a "DevensAutoX.org" or something to maintain a single schedule for the site and information for everyone.  I think individual club's web pages would just get too cluttered with non-relevant event information.

As for a list of where you can go to find out about other clubs, see below.

Here's what I can remember:

NER/SCCA  http://www.ner.org/ (obviously)

Renegade Miata  http://renegademiata.net/

BMWCCA  http://boston-bmwcca.org/

SVT  http://ne-svt.org/

BSCC (Bay State Corvette Club)  http://www.baystatecorvetteclub.com/

TCUSA (Track Club USA)  http://www.trackclubusa.com/

NCR-PCA (North Country Region Porsche Club of America)  http://ncr-pca.org/

NER-PCA (North East Region Porsche Club of America)  http://www.porschenet.com/JCMS/

Motorsportreg.com really helps me with the big picture. A great tool to see what all your options are for driving; and what clubs you would need to join in order to get seat time. Also, its a great weekend planning tool for us car nuts.

I second the high recommendation for Renegade!  It's a great club, and you will see many SCCA folks there; however, you will not find them on Motorsport Reg.  Go to the club's site at the link Bryan posted. (FYI- No, you don't have to drive a Miata or even a Mazda, but why wouldn't you? Grin )

The next Bay State Corvette Club autocross is in Sept.

Anyone is welcome.

Last time we got 14 runs in.

They're up on MotorSportsReg
