We still have openings for the July 22 test and tune. Please don't be intimidated if you aren't one of the veterans. While this event isn't appropriate for novices, anyone who has been autocrossing consistently for a year or two and would like to improve should consider attending this event. You'll have lots of opportunity to practice on different elements as well as run on a short course (with timing).  It will be a fun day with lots of seat time, and it's likely that you will find someone with a car similar to yours who would be glad to drive your car and give you advice.

Sign ups are limited to 50, so act fast if you want to attend.

Speaking of which, I'll be around but not driving at this event.  If anyone needs any assistance with wrenching on anything, tires, whatever, grab me if you see me not doing something.

...short course (with timing).

Hi Bob,

Will this course be a typical Devens (national style, high-speed with mixed elements) course in terms of speed, just shorter?  Not interested in driving two hours just to run a glorified FCSCC course Grin

Thanks
Joe

Last year we ran a 2 leg NER short course (up and back the "grid" rundway then to the sweeper pad at the tower and back) along with two seperate elements on the main runway for slalom and offset testing.  It was fast enough to feel the aero working, to say the least.

If you have things you'd like to try with the car or driver (or both) then it's definitely worth the drive.  It's also a rare opportunity to have others drive the car or ride with you to help figure things out.

Is anyone proficient at setting toe, on a 4-wheel independent suspension, on an airport runway?

I've been struggling with aligning the 'vette all week and I've finally run out of time - time to work Sad

I'm reasonably happy with the rear suspension - fingers crossed - but the front toe is giving me fits.

If anyone is willing to give some advice or pointers I'd appreciate it. Otherwise, she's behind the wall tomorrow.

TIA,

Jeff

Thank you to everyone who made yesterday's test and tune happen, and a special thank you to who put in the extra time and to those who came out yesterday to work but did not run. I appreciate all your hard work and dedication!

...and thank you to Nick, Nate, Dave, and Daryl for your help and feedback.

I'd like to thank everyone also. I had a great time getting to know my new tires as well as wrenching on the nut behind the wheel!. See you again on the 18th, or maybe the 4th if I can make it.

BTW, how did the testing of the new timer and software go?
