Mind u, I was only there for a few hours, so I probably don't have everyone, especially the karts.

Pretty ones here:

As always, use as you want for your own personal use, and credit appropriately when re-posted.

Eddie just how the heck do you get a portrait shot using a rear view mirror on a car that's going away from you at speed?  And get the focus that crisp?  Holy cats.

Thank you.

Some luck (sometimes a lot of that), but actually its knowing the angle one might take there, and I find the right height to kneel down to for that car.
It has to be pretty precise. Oh, and have the autofocus on "correctly" when I use high-speed burst helps sometimes too.... Wink

Just to add to those who don't know what I use, I do NOT use Photoshop to cut, paste, fake, etc., but I do play with enhancers. Most of the shots I upload are just that, shots, and maybe I dropped or raised exposure or contrast a bit, or just a straight auto-enhance if I'm shooting with the sun behind me.

I have a Nikon D90, and use either the 18-105mm, 55-200mm, 55-300mm and 50mm lenses. I carry a p n' s Canon SD1000 in my pocket for odd stuff (set to manual with vivid color).

Tip to Nikon users with a 105 or 200 lens looking to upgrade to a 300 lens. Do not get the 55-300. Budget for a year and go for the 18-300 or 28-300, or the better 70-300 at a minimum. Trust me.

I use a Mac, and edit in Aperture 3. The pics that have half-decent composition or a nice set-up I may often put in Topaz Adjust for certain effects, or OnOne Software's Perfect Photo Suite if its a portrait-type shot, or I need some texture added.

Believe it or not, this is a relatively small number of pictures compared to what Eddie usually does! Great work, Ed. My favorite part is how all of the pictures of one car are grouped together. Lots of work for that

Nice shots as always Eddie.  Beautiful day for it.

While I didn't snap any photos during the event, I shot some onboard video.

I started looking at some of the drivers vidz the other day, and if I get your YouTube link when I see it, I'll paste it on my picture description. I did that for Eric D, and the fellow with the Nova.

Don't forget to tag you tubes with NER, SCCA, Solo, autocross and a few things like that so it may get picked up by (I think) PZ, who deserves credit for his work also. Helps to include the date you ran the vid in the title maybe too; helps quickly pic out a most recent recording.

Conversely, I enjoy looking at the different angles the video that the GoPro's, etc produce when they are set at various angles. Quite interesting with the way some people like to set them up.

Burst mode really helps up the number of pictures

Nice! I found a used d90 for less than 700. I'll see how well pics will come out with Lightroom

The hardest thing to teach oneself is to delete the 3 or 4 "lesser" of the burst and keep that one "better" of the bunch...when it comes to editing, I am my own worst enemy.

Lightroom is probably the best on the Windows side. I tried L4 on the Mac, and while it did have a few nice things over Aperture, it is not as elegant a file-manager program, and was slower for importing and overall rendering. But it was a lot better than the previous version of L3, so Adobe is getting better on the Mac side.

I always title my videos for NER events with "NER," the event date, and often the run number.  I usually tag them with solo, autocross, ner, scca, etc.  In the description I will usually include the run number if not in the title, as well as the time/cones.

I don't, however have a gopro or any method for fancy mounting.  My recent runs have all been shot with a Droid 4 and a cheap and flexible gps mount.  I apologise for the shaking in the videos; it is my next priority to obtain a more solid mount.

No sh*t right?  Very useful!

For example, from Eddie's photos I have learned:
1. camber angles
2. body roll
3. sidewall flex and wight transfer
4. something about tire pressures, and
5. I am breathing through my mouth on course!

Cheers,
