I have heard a rumor about a proposed enactment of a cancellation fee on NER entries this coming season. Has this been discussed and approved, tabled, or rejected by the NER CRB?

First off it's not a cancellation fee, it will be a "No Show" policy
If and when it's implemented any enterant will have amble time to cancel.

Semantics being what they are I will go along with your "No Show policy" instead of a cancellation fee. How long before an event do you have to cancel? 24hrs 48hrs? Tow vehicle breaks down en route and you are sol? Any extenuating circumstances? I presume your intent is to make sure that the costs of putting on the race are covered. Has this been a problem in 2008? With the economy what it is do you think this is the best time to make it more difficult for the entrant? Is the policy "fee" less than the cost of a late entry? If not are you prepared for longer lines at registration? Was the general membership of the region (particularly the active racers) going to be made aware of this anytime soon or was it to be stuck in with the supplementals (surprise!) which of course every racer reads before entering.

Ed and All
This is not done to be a surprise, details are still being worked on.
This was also done/discussed at an open meeting.
We at NER have been and will continue to be a user friendly operation.
In the past we have looked the other way for anyone who registered and just didn't show.
At Cheap Date this year 40 entries didn't show up, my guess, because it was raining?
entry fee was $250. do the math, when does the phrase" being taken advantage of" come into play?
How does our/yours and my club recover from this?
Would it be fair to add this loss to everyones next entry fee?

I'm a racer, I got involved because I care, there are no personal gains in this for me.
I just want the club to continue with it's success.
I urge everyone to come to the annual meeting and please get involved.

Oh, at the NARRCoffs, about 80 no shows....entry fee was $350.00

Jerry,

Just for curiosity, what is the cost to the region of late cancellations?  I do realize that the registrars have wasted some paper/printer ink and time, but unless the region was going to actually cancel an event for lack of entries any loss of enty fees seems to be more a case of what may have been, rather than a real loss.

Sorta' like what I "lost" in my retirement account when the stock market dropped.

Just wondering.
