Hi Everyone,
Usually I spend my weekends shooting motocross at tracks all over New England but since I grew up as a TSD rally navigator in a Sunbeam Alpine I've kind of got the urge to shoot some sports cars. So I have a couple questions, does anyone do this already, you know shoot the event then offer prints for sale on a web site. If no one does it do you think there'd be a demand for it.
I do a really good job (even if I do say so myself) so I know you'd like the photos.

I'd certainly consider the purchase of good photos, as it is relatively rare for one of our members to have a long enough lense for Devens and the time to use it throughout an event.

That might be a try it and see proposition - coming to Devens this Sunday?  I reckon we should have a few sportscars laying about...

Cheers,

Some people shoot events, not many people charge anything for them.. ..unless they're really good.   For example, take a look at the "free" photos for 2007 Nat'ls I just uploaded.   Back around 2002? someone used to bring a trailer with a DyeSub printer and sell them on the spot (Digital Race Photos?).  Last year someone printed photos up at Loudon.  Seems the key isn't having a web site, it's being able to hand a nice print to someone at the end of the event.

The most effective way is to have either a 200mm or 300mm lens and follow the course around with a spotter [required! as is the ok from the safety steward].  I've done that and it works quite well.  However, nobody competing can do that for every heat (not the one they're running and not the one they're working!).

I know how to shoot and yeah a trailer with a printer is the ideal way to go but for now my site is the best I've got. Does Solo run rain or shine?

Rain, shine, snow (really, we have) we run in it all.

The only thing we stop for is lightning.

That part was replying to Charlie, as noted by the quoted section.
